Description
The Glow 40" White Folding Beauty Dish is a portable version of the light modifier famous for striking signature portraiture and fashion images. The quick to set up octagonal umbrella like assembly has all the advantages of the beauty dish effect without the problems of damage a typical metallic dish confronts with location travel. It has all the benefits of a metal beauty dish design without any of the drawbacks due to the delicate bendable dish. This folding unit is made for the road with sturdy fiberglass support rods for structural stability and fabric strength and serves as a great lighting solution in the studio as well.
This 40" White version of the series serves best from head and shoulders portraits to dramatic figure studies or for subjects that are in tight spaces where softboxes and umbrellas can't do the job.
The unique diffusion properties are achieved using a double reflector system that softens the flash properties twice. The final effect has qualities that cross between that of a direct flash and a softbox, giving the image a wraparound look - like a softbox, but with more contrast and a more dramatic directed beam. The white finish delivers soft output, creates subtle contrast and brings out more detail of your subject. The beauty dish design has a small opaque deflector cover suspended directly over the front of the light source, in the center of the beauty dish, preventing direct light from hitting the subject. The light then bounces backwards off the small interior disk and floods the wall of the larger bowl of the beauty dish, resulting in a wide cast of softer light. Theresulting effect is gentler than obtainable from a standard reflector and much better than the harshness of a speedlight.
The folding beauty dish attaches onto the popular Bowens mount with the included speedring, but most brands of studio flash and monolights can easily use this beauty dish with separately purchased rings.
The included accessory for the Glow Folding Beauty Dishes is a diffusion fabric panel called a "sock½. This is a translucent diffusion material, with a Velcro edge that fits within the rim of the dish. By softening the ring of focused light that emanates from the reflector, the degree of contrast is lowered and edges of shadows are softer. The spread of light is greatly increased, with a loss of about 1 stop, with beautiful catch lights and natural window light aura.
Photographers use 28" to 34" beauty dish on monolights and flash heads for flattering people shots, especially for sculpting facial features and creating beautiful shadows and catch lights. Glamour and sports photographers, which typically use a crisp type of lighting to enhance curves, muscles, and texture, use all sizes of the Glow Folding Beauty Dish. This bigger 40" diameter model can produce a beam with more 'reach', overall scattering more focused light to treat larger subjects and areas as well. Used in a vertical tower array of 2 or more, the beauty dish accentuates a model's full figure with perfect head to toe coverage.
The interior of the Glow Folding Beauty Dish comes in two internal surfaces. The silver finish delivers higher output, creates more contrast and brings out more detail than its white counterpart. This pure white interior version minimizes hot spots, smooths skin tone and reveals less texture.
The optional Glow Folding Beauty Dish honeycomb grid is a powerful tool in the arsenal of artificial lighting photographer. By covering the aperture of the reflector with the disk, you gain more control of a light source's beam, and feathers the hard light for an attractive shadow, virtually eliminating spill from the rest of the body and the background. This strong directionality can be used to add high key depth for fashion images, and emphasis the model facial structure as well as the eyes, lips, nose and chin.

Returns
For the first 30 days from date of receipt of your purchase you may return the merchandise for a full money back refund, excluding any shipping charges (for items which we offer free shipping, our standard shipping charges will be deducted from any refund or credit).
Returned or exchanged products must be in brand-new, mint condition. Items must be in the original, undamaged manufacturer's packaging with all packaging materials, including instruction booklets, packing inserts, and the blank warranty cards. Memory cards and any other Blister Pack items are not returnable once opened. Any merchandise missing the original Universal Product Code (UPC) cannot be returned. The manufacturer's labeled packaging must be enclosed within an additional shipping carton. Please do not place stickers or shipping labels on the original manufacturer's package.
Printers are not returnable once the Toner Cartridges have been installed or released.
Desktop Computers, Laptops, Tablets & Notebooks are not returnable once they have passwords or other software installed, have been registered with or returned to the manufacturer for any reason.
