  • Condition: SEE PHOTOS. Very Good, very clean, comes from a smoke free home. Interior clean. Hat has no wear, soiling or spotting, not out of shape. Mild fade to the color of the flowers. Silk veiling his very good, supple and not dry, I found 1 tiny break barely seen. Comes from a smoke free home of the original owner, where it was very well cared for in a walk in closet, in the original box. Hat box is very good, not worn or faded out, really well preserved. .     Description

    In all my 40 years of collecting, I feel this is one of the prettiest G.H. Hodge hats ever.   Darling hat is liberally covered in sweet purple violets with long pale purple stems, laid over a pale blue satin, very inventive in the way Hodge laid these over the hat to create movement.   And it has its original oval (not round) Hodge hatbox with pink satin long rope handles for carrying.  In front is a face veil that has two patterns, and is real French silk veiling.  Blue lined interior, the hat and box are well preserved, fresh and clean. Label is G. Howard Hodge, Original, New York.  The hat is even prettier in person than it looks here.
    A hat for the serious millinery collector.  Too pretty to hide away, makes a lovely display too!  And scarce to find with its original box.  Thank you!
